The cast of "Rurouni Kenshin" attend Red Carpet event
On June 27th, Sato Takeru who stars in the live-action film, "Rurouni Kenshin" appeared on the red carpet for the pre-screening event. Walking down the red carpet, Sato stated that he was very happy and that all the cast members did their best working on the film. Joining him on the red carpet was Takei Emi, Aoi Yu, Eguchi Yosuke, Kikkawa Koji, Aoki Munetaka, and Tanaka Taketo.
The movie is an adaptation from Watsuki Nobuhiro's manga, "Rurouni Kenshin" and it is about a legendary swordsman. The manga ran from 1994 to 1999 in Shounen Jump Weekly and was released in 28 volumes and sold over 50,000,000 copies. The movie follows the first storyline of the manga when the once feared swordsman becomes a wandering swordsman in the Meiji Era. During the Meiji's restoration he encounters an old enemy.
Sato's take on his role as Kenshin is that he really likes the character and hopes that he performed an ideal Kenshin. Takei said she thinks that Kenshin is cool and that she loved playing Kaoru who is pure and straightforward. Kikkawa said that it was his first time walking down such a long red carpet and that it was a lot of fun. Chief director Otomo is confident that people will be surprised even when they are expecting something. Sato also commented that he is sincerely happy to be in the movie's worldview and wants to share it with everyone, and that he'll see everyone in two months!
The movie will be released on August 28th nationwide in Japan.
