Yamashita Tatsuro to release best-of album in September

allkpop

To celebrate the 35th anniversary since his solo debut, singer-songwriter Yamashita Tatsurou revealed on June 12th that he'll be releasing an 'all-time best-of' album in the fall.

Yamashita proved his lasting popularity when his first original album in nearly six years, "Ray Of Hope", topped the Oricon album charts last summer. Afterwards, he embarked on alarge-scalenationwide tour, which just ended this May, with a total of 64 overwhelming performances across Japan. "Yamatatsu", as fans fondly call him, surprised his fans with the announcement of his compilation album right after his tour.

The 3-CD album is slated for release on September 26th, and will contain over 40 remastered hits selected by Yamashita himself from his lengthy musical career. The album will include hits such as "RIDE ON TIME" (1980), "Christmas Eve" (1983), and more all the way back to his debut in 1975. It will also contain content from both his old label, RCA Victor, as well as his current label,Warner Music Japan.

For fans of Yamashita, the compilation album will feature a new song, which has been chosen as the theme for the upcoming drama "Iryuu Sousa" starring Kamikawa Takaya. The song was written specifically for the drama and will not be released as a single to promote his best-of album.

Stay tuned for more on his upcoming compilation album!
