On July 27th, the full trailer for the upcoming revenge drama 'Sono Yoru no Samurai' starring Sakai Masato and Yamada Takayuki was revealed on its official website.

'Sono Yoru no Samurai' is the movie adaptation of the stage play of the same name by the mega popular theater troupe 'THE SHAMPOO HAT'. The troupe member Akahori Masaaki wrote, directed, and played the starring role in this play. Akahori is also wrote the screenplay for the movie adaptation and directed the whole thing.

The movie revolves around a man named 'Nakamura' (Sakai), who obsessed with revenge after his wife was killed by a truck in a hit-and-run accident and the man who committed the hit-and-run - 'Kijima' (Yamada). It's the first time for those two to appear together in a movie. The great supporting cast is made up of Arai Hirofumi, Taguchi Tomorowo, Ayano Go, Tanimura Mitsuki, Sakai Maki, and Ando Sakura.

In the now released trailer, we're given a good first look at the two characters. Yamada's character comes off as quite a brute who, after crashing into woman with his truck, unconcernedly states to his colleague, "It smells like 'Saba-miso (Mackerel braised in miso sauce)'. I guess somebody is having 'Saba-miso' for dinner today." He also isn't afraid of hitting and pulling a female blue-collar worker (Tanimura) by her hair at a construction site. There's even one scene with him pouring kerosene over another man (Taguchi). One quote from the trailer describes him as someone who's no longer a human being.

Sakai's character, on the other hand, is a quiet man whom you could see from that he's suffering from a deep sense of loss after his wife died in the hit-and-run accident. He's keeping a very close eye on the man who killed his wife and is sending him a letter counting down to the day of revenge every single day. However, he's not only driving the criminal but also himself into a corner gradually starting to question the meaning of his revenge. The trailer ends with him confronting 'Kijima' with a knife on a rainy night.

It's a very deep story that depicts two people who are stuck at the border between madness and an ordinary life.

'Sono Yoru no Samurai' is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on November 17th.
