On July 16th, actress Miyazaki Aoi attended a stage greeting for the animated film, 'Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki'.
During this event, singer-songwriter Ann Sally sang the movie's theme song, "Okaasan no Uta". Hearing the song, Miyazaki was moved to tears as she said, "I'm sorry. I cried so I had to blow my nose." She also expressed, "I got to hear a song that I really like, and it made me think of how many things are dear to me."
Miyazaki, who voices a mother of two in the film, was asked to share the most memorable moment with her own mom. "She knows something happened without me telling her. Mom's antennas are amazing," she nostalgically said. Miyazaki continued with a smile,"It's not an ordinary thing to be raised by your mom until you're an adult. It's a really amazing and difficult thing. You shouldn't forget about every day. I felt that it was like a miracle."
'Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki' tells a story about a woman named Hana (Miyazaki) who falls in love with a "wolf man". It portrays the growth of the couple through marriage, childbirth, and child rearing. The movie will open in theaters nationwide on July 21st.
