Poster for 'Karasu no Oyayubi' revealed
On August 10th, a new poster image was revealed for the upcoming movie 'Karasu no Oyayubi', which stars Abe Hiroshi and Murakami Shoji as a pair of middle-aged swindlers.
'Karasu no Oyayubi' ('Crows’ Thumb') is an adaptation of Michio Shusuke's novel of the same name and revolves around a unique group of five individuals who plan a once-in-a-lifetime coup in order to leave their dark and sorrowful pasts behind them. The five people who end up living together under the same roof are the swindler duo Take (Abe) and Tetsu (Murakami), the two beautiful sisters Yahiro (Ishihara Satomi) and Mahiro (Nounen Rena), and Yahiro's boyfriend (Koyanagi Yu).
Professional swindlers are also called 'crows', thus the released poster features all five of them sporting black outfits. Although Abe is occupying most of the space, it's Ishihara who's attracting a lot of attention with her strapless dress and mischievous smile.
The filming for this movie already took place last fall, but director Ito Tadafumi spent a lot of time in post-production and didn't finish the movie until a few days ago. Abe stated about the filming, "The director's obsession with detail isn't normal anymore. The filming was very difficult, but when I got to see the finalized version of the movie, it far exceeded my imagination."
Author Michio also commented, "When I saw 'Karasu no Oyayubi' at a private screening, it was the first time that I personally enjoyed the whole story from the bottom of my heart. I cried. I laughed. It was really moving."
'Karasu no Oyayubi' is scheduled to open in Japan on November 23rd. Check out the teaser here.
