On September 5th, the official website of the upcoming 'Strawberry Night' movie - starring Takeuchi Yuko - was updated with a first short teaser, which features a surprising kiss scene between Takeuchi and Osawa Takao.

'Strawberry Night' is a movie sequel to the popular Fuji TV drama series of the same name that aired from January until March this year. The series is based on Honda Tetsuya's 'Himekawa Reiko' novel series, and the movie is going to follow the story of 'Invisible Rain' published in November 2009.

Takeuchi is playing 'Himekawa Reiko', a female detective who was already promoted to assistant inspector at the age of 27, despite being an actual non-career woman. Moreover, she has to be very thick-skinned in the male-dominated profession.

Aside from her personal struggles and various mysterious cases, many viewers liked the love line between 'Himekawa' and her subordinate 'Kikuta Kazuo' (Nishijima Hidetoshi). This brings us back to the movie teaser and her kiss scene, not with 'Kikuta', but the Yakuza boss 'Makita Isao' (Osawa). Will there really be a love triangle?

The short teaser is already quite intense and suggests that we will be in for a great ride. 'Himekawa' and her team are chasing a serial killer, and the Yakuza boss 'Makita' seems to be the key to the whole puzzle. Inside a car, 'Makita' whispers to 'Himekawa', "Don't you want to kill someone?" and then plants a kiss on her lips. In the next scene, she's being told to disappear from the police force. Is it because of her forbidden relationship? Shortly after that, she seems to weep over a hurt 'Kikuta' in the middle of a street.

Koide Keisuke, Maruyama Ryuhei, and Takeda Tetsuya are going to reprise their roles from the TV drama. New characters will be played by Miura Tomokazu, Sometani Shota, Kaneko Ken, Kaneko Nobuaki, Ishibashi Renji, and Tanaka Tetsushi.

'Strawberry Night' is slated for a release on January 26th, 2013.
