AKB48 Team A members shed tears at final performance before new rotation
On October 29, AKB48’s Team A gave their final performance with the current team members on the AKB48 theater in Akihabara, Tokyo. The team is set to shuffle its members on November 1.
This was the last stage for members Takajo Aki (21), Nakagawa Haruka (20), and Ota Aika (17), all of whom will transfer into sister groups. During the encore, they revealed their decision to transfer to sister groups.
Takajo, who will transfer to Jakarta, Indonesia-based sister group JKT48 cried as she said, “Because I have my fellow members and my fans here, I will make a grand first step towards the future. I did not decide to transfer because I wanted to make everyone sad. I will return to Japan after becoming bigger person.” Nakagawa, who will also transfer to JKT48, also cried as she said, “I will try my best to make sure that JKT48 can hold concerts in Japan as well.”
Ota, who will make her debut performance as a member of Hakata, Fukuoka-based sister group HKT48 on November 1, stated, “In AKB, the road was a straight without bumps, but from here on out, I think I will be able to walk a curved and bumpy road.”
Takahashi Minami (21), who will be the general manager of AKB48 groups, shouted, “Transfers are personal challenges. Let’s try our best from here on out as members of (AKB groups),” and ended the performance by singing the AKB48 graduation song “Sakura no Hanabi-tachi” with the Team A members.
