Abe Hiroshi visits Waseda University to promote his upcoming movie
On December 22nd, Abe Hiroshi appeared at the Okuma Memorial Hall of Waseda University for an event with about 600 students, for his upcoming movie 'Tsuya no Yoru Aru Ai ni Kakawatta, Onna-tachi no Monogatari'.
This movie is based on Naoki Prize winning novelist Inoue Areno's novel of the same name, and is directed by Yukisada Isao. The protagonist "Matsuo" (Abe) has been struggling with his wife's ("Tsuya") infidelity. One day, Tsuya is attacked with a disease, and becomes unconscious. Matsuo thinks that it is unbearable to lose her, and it leads him to contact the men who Tsuya had relationships with in the past. However, Matsuo's decision to inform these men of Tsuya's dire condition also effects the women around those men.
Otake Shinobu will be playing Matsuo's ex-wife and female character will be played by Koizumi Kyoko, Nonami Maho, Fubuki Jun, Maki Yoko, and Kutsuna Shiori.
The"special lecture" event at the Waseda University was designed as a discussion of some of the behind the scenes aspects of the filming process. Abe revealed that he lost 11 kilogram in order to express the "madness" of his role. He said, "My goal was to be like Egashira-san (= Egashira 2:50 *comedian), since he has quite healthy and nice muscle."
The director Yukisada, who also attended the event, revealed that it was Abe's idea to lose 11 kilogram for the movie, the he said, "I was wondering why it had to be 11 kilogram. That was the only impression I had from the first meeting with Abe-san."
According to Abe, he lost the weight through dieting and exercise. However, "After the filming was over for the movie, another filming for a drama started, but I couldn't gain back my weight. So everybody was asking me why I got so skinny."
'Tsuya no Yoru: Aru Ai ni Kakawatta Onna-tachi no Monogatari' is scheduled for release on January 26th, 2013.
