On December 6th, actor Sato Takeru visited Taiwan for the first time to promote his starring movie "Rurouni Kenshin",which will open in theaters in Taiwan starting on the 7th, and received a warm welcome by the locals.
Reportedly, 250 fans rushed to the Songshan Airport, and some fans even followed the car Sato was in in 10 separate taxis from the airport. It seems Sato gained popularity in Taiwan, since many dramas that Sato appeared in, such as "Bloody Monday" and "Q10", were also aired there.
At the press conference held at a hotel in Taipei, which over 100 reporters showed up to, Sato greeted them in the native language, impressing them.
During the press conference, Sato was asked, "If Maeda Atsuko and Ishihara Satomi (whom Sato has co-starred with in the past) were about to drown, which one of them you would help?", to which he responded with a smile, "I would save both of them, and let myself die."
He also appeared at the stage greeting for the special screening event held during the night, and said "Please enjoy the movie," in the local language.
