This spring, SNH48’s own theater will open in Shanghai and the group will also hold handshake events in several locations.  SNH48 is the second AKB48 sister group outside of Japan after Jakarta-based JKT48.

According to the group’s agency, Miyazawa Sae (22) and Suzuki Mariya (21) who transferred from AKB48, did not appear publicly, because, “They have not yet received their visas (to do their entertainment activities in China.)

AKB48 is popular among youth in China and 38,000 girls applied to become SHN48 members.  The 24 members of the group were selected during open auditions from 5 cities in China.
