miwa completes first Nippon Budokan live
On March 29, female singer-songwriter miwa (22) performed for the first time ever since her 2010 debut at the Nippon Budokan. Her concert, entitled “miwa live at Budokan~Sotsugyo-shiki~," sold out all 10,000 seats within the first 3 minutes. She enthusiastically performed 23 of her songs, both new and old, including her debut song “don’t cry anymore” and her hit song “Hikari e.”
In the intervals between songs, videos of her from before her debut and from her first recording session were displayed for fans. She thanked her fans with, “It is hard to believe that I am surrounded by my audience at the Budokan.”
During her encore, miwa appeared on stage wearing a hakama and spoke to her fans with, “Today’s live performance is my graduation ceremony; since I have also graduated from university, I wore this hakama! I stand here to show you how much I grew. From here on out, I will do my best, so it will be great if everyone can continue to support me.” She teared up while she performed her final song, “Tsuyoku Naritai,” which she wrote in her final year of high school.
