It was announced that Shiina Kippei will be starring in TBS' new drama "Keiji no Manazashi" that will begin airing in October. This will mark his first starring drama on TBS, and also his first starring drama in 14 years.
"Keiji no Manazashi" is based on Edogawa Ranpo Award winning writer, Yakumaru Gaku's short-story series.�
It tells a story of a rookie detective "Natsume Nobuto" (Shiina). Natume used to be a technical officer at a juvenile classification home, but he changed his job to a police officer though he was over 40 years old. One of the reasons for his job-change was that 10 years ago, his young daughter became a victim of a certain case, and as a result, she has been in a�vegetative state.
As a rookie detective for the criminal investigation division at Higashi Ikebukuro police station, Natsume tries to search for the truth behind the cases. Although the original novel only features Natume's activities, the drama adaptation will feature Natume's team work with other detectives.�
Matsushige Yutaka, Kaname Jun, and Kitamura Yukiya will co-star with Shiina.
"Keiji no Manazashi" will be aired during TBS' Monday Mystery Theater time slot (8:00 pm) starting in October.
