Southern All Stars' comeback single tops Oricon weekly chart

TH STAFF
Southern All Stars
Southern All Stars' 54th single "Peace to Highlight" (released on August 7), which is their comeback single after a five-year hiatus, sold 207,000 copies in the first week, and topped Oricon's weekly ranking.

Southern All Stars made their debut back in June 1978, and they topped the single ranking for the first time with "Sayonara Baby" in 1989.

After that, they continued topping the chart in the 1990s (with 5 singles in total) and in the 2000s (with 8 singles in total). Including the latest single, they've topped the single chart in four decades (in 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s), which makes them the very first group to accomplish the record. (Singer Nakajima Miyuki has also achieved it during 1970s ~ 2000s.)

"Peace to Highlight" is their 3 consecutive singles (15th single in total) to top the chart. Not only the single ranking, but some of their previous albums, including Kuwata Keisuke's solo album, also went up in the album ranking.

Additionally, Southern All Stars is in the middle of their stadium tour (5 locations, 9 shows), and a total of 350,000 audience members are expected to attend the tour.
