This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report that gives you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
Multiple dramas have come and are going to come to an end this week, but there was also the start of a new historical drama and the broadcast an entertaining special drama.
The new historical drama on Thursdays on NHK is titled 'Asaki Yumemishi ~ Yaoya Oshichi Ibun' and features actress/singer Maeda Atsuko in the starring role. Its first of ten episodes recorded a rating of 5.8%, which is somewhat acceptable in a time slot that has been used for reruns of dramas of NHK's premium channel up until recently.
Fuji TV and the three actresses Nakatani Miki, Matsushita Nao, and Toda Erika entertained viewers in the special drama 'Hana no Kusari' that aired on Tuesday and recorded 9.1%.
All the five prime time dramas that came to a conclusion earlier this week only achieved mediocre ratings with their final episodes. Only one of them stayed within the double-digits. In fact, only two of those dramas managed to keep their season-average below the 10% mark - 'SUMMER NUDE' (Fuji TV) and 'Shomuni 2013' (Fuji TV). 'SUMMER NUDE' recorded 11.9% (-0.5%) and achieved a season-average of 12.53%, while 'Shomuni 2013' recorded 7.8% (-1.1%) and achieved a season-average of 11.85%.
The final episode of 'Namonaki Doku' (TBS) achieved a rating of 8.7% (+0.3%), which resulted in a season-average of 09.26%. 'Oh, My Dad!!' (Fuji TV) stayed near the 10% mark with its finale and raised its season-average to 09.23%. 'Pin to Kona' (TBS) experienced a bittersweet good-bye with a low rating of 6.8% (-2.0%). Its season-average amounts to 7.35%.
Meanwhile, 'Glass no Ie' (NHK) continues to lose its steam and viewers despite its controversial love story. The third episode lost 1.7% and recorded a rating of 7.1%.
