The 8th victory of 'Kaze Tachinu' and 'Captain Harlock' embarks in 2nd place.

As expected, 'Kaze Tachinu' managed to exceed the results of its two previous weekends as a result of Miyazaki Hayao announcing his retirement and continued to monopolize the first place on the box office chart. The 10 billion Yen mark is already well within its reach. The last film that claimed the top for eight consecutive weekends was 'Avatar' in 2009/10.

Several of Miyazaki's past masterpieces also dominated the box office charts. 'Spirited Away' (2001) topped the charts for 11 weekends and 'Howl's Moving Castle' (2004/05) nine weekends. Unfortunately there are no official records for some of his early works.

In 2nd place opened the animated feature-film adaptation of the classic manga and anime 'Space Pirate Captain Harlock'. The movie - titled 'Captain Harlock' - features the voices of many Japanese actors such as Oguri Shun as the protagonist. Its opened weekend results fell short of all the hype and expectations, which was mainly caused by Miyazaki and 'Kaze Tachinu'.
