This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report that gives you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
The Sakai Masato boom continues. 'Hanzawa Naoki's (TBS) popularity skyrocketed and resulted in rapidly increasing sales and rentals of his previous movies and dramas, so much so that video shops are considering a separate section for the actor's works. Sakai's old and new fans must be even more delighted to know that he is also starring in the fall drama 'Legal High 2' (Fuji TV) featuring Aragaki Yui as the heroine.
'Legal High 2' premiered with a high rating of 21.2% in the Kanto region (23.1% in Kansai) on Wednesday, which is quite amazing considering that the first season premiered at 12.2% and never crossed the 15% mark. In comparison, 'Hanzawa Naoki' also only recorded 19.4% with its 1st episode. The rating of the 1st episode of 'Legal High 2' peaked at 23.5% during its climax scene featuring the theme song by SLY.
Three more fall dramas started with normal ratings into the fall season during the last four days. 'Keiji no Manazashi' (TBS) - starring Shiina Kippei - was one of them and recorded 8.4% on Monday.
On Tuesday, Nishikido Ryo turned into a fake fortune teller in 'Yorozu Uranai Dokoro' (Fuji TV) and achieved a rating of 11.5% with the 1st episode.
The dominance of 'Legal High 2' on Wednesday also caused 'Danda Rin ~ Roudou Kijun Kantokukan' (NTV) to experience a sharp drop in ratings with its 2nd episode (7.8%; -3.5).
The fourth new drama of the first half of the week was 'Dokushin Kizoku' (Fuji TV) starring Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Kitagawa Keiko, and Ito Hideaki. It recorded a decent rating of 12.6%. Meanwhile, 'Asaki Yumemishi ~ Yaoya Oshichi Ibun' (NHK) managed to stop its fall on Thursday (rating 5.6%; +1.6).
