This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report that gives you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
The weekend introduced a handful of new shows for all drama fans. It already began on Friday with the premieres of 'Kurokochi' starring Nagase Tomoya on TBS and 'Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2' starring Nagasawa Masami on TV Asahi. 'Kurokochi' achieved a somewhat decent rating of 12.0%, while 'Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2' started surprisingly low with only 8.4% (1st season average: 9.7%).
On Saturday, NHK and NTV each introduced a new drama during the 9:00 pm time frame. 'Jikken Keiji Totori 2' (NHK) -starring Mikami Hiroshi- had a typically low start for the network (rating: 5.0%). Meanwhile, 'Tokyo Bandwagon' (NTV) -starring Kamenashi Kazuya- experienced a very difficult start (rating: 8.8%).
Why the low ratings for the two Sunday dramas? One reason could be the popular omnibus horror special series 'Yonimo Kimyo na Monogatari' that aired on Fuji TV (no ratings available yet). It once again featured a great bunch of actors including Katori Shingo, Kaho, Matsuzaka Tori, Kuroki Haru, Shiga Kotaro, Mano Erina, Ishihara Satomi, Kitamura Yukiya, Natsuna and Miyata Toshiya.
Of course all eyes were on the new Sunday drama 'Ando Lloyd ~A.I. knows LOVE?~' on TBS. It had to succeed the hit drama 'Hanzawa Naoki' and features Kimura Takuya as the protagonist, which naturally created high expectations. In the end it achieved a great rating of 19.2%, which is pretty similar to the start of 'Hanzawa Naoki' (19.2%). Now it depends whether it can keep the viewers just as engaged and invested into the story, but we all know that the bar was set very high last season.
