This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report that gives you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
'Shitsuren Chocolatier' lost 1.7% on Monday and dropped down to 12.7%, but it still remained at the top of its time slot. 'Inpei Sousa' also fell by 1.0% down to 7.2%.
On Tuesday, TV Tokyo took the 9pm crown with its variety show 'Kaiun! Nandemo Kantei Dan' with 12.6%, while the drama 'Fukuie Keibuho no Aisatsu' experienced quite a drop by 2.7% down to 11.5%. However, that's still a passable rating for a Tuesday drama in this time slot. 'Team Batista 4' is stable as usual at 10pm with a rating of 12.6% (-0.4) and 'Kami no Tsuki' evidently grasped more attention as it hit 8.0% (+1.8) with its 3rd episode.
Crime drama 'Aibou Season 12' has recorded a usual high rating of 17.4% (-1.2) this Wednesday. Most of its viewers also stayed for the following news program 'Hodo Station' on TV Asahi, resulting in a clear win at 10pm with 15.4% (-1.9).
Meanwhile, the much-discussed drama 'Ashita, Mama ga Inai' didn't experience in spike in the Kanto region and fell by 0.5% down to 13.5%. However, in the Kansai area it actually gained 1.0% and near the area of the drama's setting it went up by around 4.0% after its 1st episode. The controversy surrounding this drama caused some sponsors to think about withdrawing from this time slot for good, but NTV immediately announced that next season this time slot is going to host 'Hanzawa Naoki' writer Ikdeio Jun's new drama starring actress Anne who is doing great in the NHK morning drama 'Gouchisousan'. That sure is a good way of doing damage control.
Thursday's prime time was opened by a strong episode of 'VS Arashi' (14.8%, +2.6) at 7pm. A special on TBS also recorded good ratings in this time slot. Those are some unusually high ratings so early in the evening. Nothing out of the ordinary happened one hour later. At least the drama 'Nezumi, Edo wo Hashiru' did well and improved by 1.2% up to 8.2%.
Now to the big surprise and highlight of the first half of this week. Thursday 9pm drama 'Kinkyu Torishirabe Shitsu' starring Amami Yuki cracked the 15% mark with its 3rd episode and recorded a rating of 16.1% (+2.7). It also appears that this drama might have potential to gain even more viewers from now on.
