It's been revealed that singer-songwriter Sheena Ringo will be singing the theme song for soccer-related programs on NHK. The song will air on May 12 during 'Namachukei World Cup Nihon Daihyou Happyou' where the Japanese representative players for the '2014 FIA World Cup' will be announced.
Sheena's new song will be released on June 11. She commented, "Thank you very much for requesting this important mission. This time, the World Cup will be held in Brazil, a place I've longed [to visit]. I spent my childhood in Japan's Brazil, Shimizu. Will my groove be used for the first time here? What will we make of the excitement on the night before the battle? Let's make it a song. I will do my best."
Previously, NHK used Superfly's "Tamashii Revolution" in 2010, RADWIMPS' "Kimi to Hitsuji to Ao" in 2011-2012, and Sakanaction's "Aoi" in 2013 as the theme songs.
