Mr.Children's new song "Hanatareru" will be released via iTunes Store, Recochoku, OORONG-SHA MOBILE+, and other music distributing sites on May 24.

"Hanatareru" will be the band's first single since "REM" was released in May of last year. It's the theme song for the movie 'Seiten no Hekireki' which was written and produced by Gekidan Hitori. The song will be released on the opening day of the movie. 

In order to write the song, Sakurai Kazutoshi (Vo, G) read the movie's script. While reading it, he recalled the image of "a bird that has healed its wound inside of a cage flying towards the sky again".  He commented, "I hope that it will become the ideal BGM that will be with people as they face important stages in life where their heart, which may be in a dark and gloomy place, is brought back to a free and cheerful place."

Mr.Children is currently in the middle of recording their new album. Fans can expect exciting things in the near future.
