On May 15, My Little Lover's akko announced her marriage to a non-celebrity man.

Though her official blog, akko reported, "I, akko, got married last month." She revealed that she met her husband through work, "It's been years since I've met him. In the beginning, we both didn't really feel anything for each other, but as we talked about many things, it was surprising to see how we were similar. We realized that what we were aiming for were as similar as can be."��

In 1996, akko married music producer Kobayashi Takeshi who was a member of My Little Lover at the time. They later divorced in 2008. She and Kobayashi have two children together.
