Spitz's 'Ai no Kotoba' selected as theme song to upcoming drama 'Asunaro San San Nana Byoushi'

It has been announced that an old song by the 4-member band Spitz has been selected as the theme song for Fuji TV's upcoming drama "Asunaro San San Nana Byoushi" set to start on July 15.

The song will be the melancholic melody "Ai no Kotoba", which was one of the tracks in the band's 1995 album "Hachimitsu".

In the drama, the middle-aged man protagonist (played by Yanagiba Toshiro) is made to lead a university cheering squad. The drama's staff Mizuno Ayako remembered that she used to listen to Spitz most during her university days and wrote a letter to Spitz to ask for permission to use their song. Spitz then recorded a new version "Ai no Kotoba - 2014 Mix -" specially for this drama and commented, "We are really happy that after so long our music is still getting so much attention."

Furthermore, the music for the drama will be directed by famous composer Otomo Yoshihide (54), the composer behind the NHK Asadora "Amachan".
