It is a live-action drama adaptation of Daniel Keyes' world-famous masterpiece, which tells a story of a mentally disabled man with a low IQ who becomes a genius after getting a surgery.
It has been adapted into movies, TV dramas, and stage plays several times in Japan, and this time, Nojima Shinji ("Seija no Koshin", "Ashita, Mama ga Inai") is in charge of supervising the scenario.
With the arrangement, it will be set in modern Japan, and the protagonist of this drama adaptation will be a 28-year-old man 'Shiratori Sakito' (Yamashita) whose IQ is the same level as a 6-year-old and works at flower delivery center "Dream Flower Service", where many young people with various problems work at.
New TBS drama "Flowers for Algernon" will begin airing in April (every Fridays at 10:00 pm).
