Utada Hikaru will be in charge of the theme song for movie 'DESTINY Kamakura Monogatari' that's due out on December 9.
Based on a manga by Saigan Ryohei, 'DESTINY Kamakura Monogatari' is a live-action fantasy film directed by Yamazaki Takashi of the 'ALWAYS 3-chome no Yuuhi' series. Sakai Masato plays Isshiki Masakazu, a mystery writer who solves mysterious cases happening in Kamakura with his wife Akiko (played by Takahata Mitsuki).
Director Yamazaki personally wrote a letter to Utada asking her to sing the theme song. The singer then read the movie's plot as well as its original work and penned the song "Anata," which was recorded at a studio in London during summer. The last time Utada had a tie-up with a movie was back in 2012 when she provided "Sakura Nagashi" for 'EVANGELION:3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO.'
"Anata" will be released digitally on December 8.
