Fairies receives the Best New Artist Award at this year’s Japan Record Awards

Back in November, tokyohive posted the list of winners for the ‘53rd Japan Record Award’. However, that list was incomplete, as the event withheld its winners for the ‘Best Song’ and the ‘Best New Artist’ awards.

As reported earlier, AKB48 took home the prestigious Japan Record Award with their single “Flying Get“, but there were may other memorable moments that night.

AKB48 brings down the house with “Beginner” at the 52nd Japan Record Awards

Japan’s most popular girl group, AKB48, had a memorable year in 2010 with their 18th single, “Beginner”.

Starting on October 27th, the single sold 827,000 copies in just its first week – two weeks later, on November 10th, the group acquired the “Million” certification mark from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). It was the first time any AKB48 song had ever achieved the “Million” mark, and we’re sure that they’re capable of doing it again.

Shoujo Jidai (SNSD) performs “Gee” at the 52nd Japan Record Awards

The ladies of Shoujo Jidai (SNSD) remastered their hit single “Gee” for their Japanese fanbase, and it became an immediate hit on various music charts.

Taking only three weeks to surpass the 100,000 sales mark, the girl group was bestowed with a ‘Gold’ disk from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) last month.

Big Bang croons with “Tell Me Goodbye” at the 52nd Japan Record Awards

Big Bang gained a hot response in Japan back in June with their single, “Tell Me Goodbye”, and though they’ve only promoted intermittently, the popularity of their single secured them a nomination for the prestigious “Japan Record Award” at the 52nd Japan Record Awards.

Recently, the CEO of their agency back in Korea assured their Japanese fans that Big Bang would promote more aggressively in the new year, with a two-month tour scheduled for May.
