Director of Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki Hayao's comment on the magazine "Neppuu" published by Studio Ghibli, became a hot topic on the internet. It was about Apple's latest product, the iPad.
In the magazine, Mr. Miyazaki said that he detests people who go crazy over the iPad. He doesn't like the fact that a lot of people think it's trendy and cool to have an iPad - basically he doesn't like followers.
The interviewer explained to him how convenient the iPad is and that you can get information wherever you are.
Mr. Miyazaki responded, "Well, information anybody can get is not that important. You can't get something really important through an 'i-whatever'."
He added that information should be sought out in person and with the usage of your imagination, not through a device.
Although some people say what Mr. Miyazaki said was just a sermon of an old man, many people seem to understand what he meant.
In my opinion, if you have ever watched a Ghibli anime, you would kind of understand what he is trying to say.
In the end of the interview, he concluded by saying, "Don't be a buyer, be a producer."
