A preview screening for the movie "My Back Page" was held in Tokyo today with the attendance of the two starring actors Tsumabuki Satoshi and Matsuyama Kenichi.

The movie is based on an autobiographical novel of Kawamoto Saburo and is set during the student protests at Tokyo University back then Kawamoto worked as a journalist covering the protests of students that opposed the Japanese government's tolerance of the US entering the Vietnam War and using Okinawa as a crucial staging post for that purpose.

Tsumabuki will play that journalist, here called Sawada, trying to interview students and collecting material for a weekly magazine. He happens to meet a young activist called Katagiri (Matsuyama), who introduces himself as Umeyama, who is determined to use all means necessary, including weapons, in order to let their voices be heard. The two of them start to develop a strong bond despite the turbulent days.

It's the first opportunity for Tsumabki to work together with his junior Matsuyama, "Finally the opportunity was there. It was a very fresh and stimulating experience."

"My Back page" will open in cinemas on May 28th.
