The newest books in the light novel series "Suzumiya Haruhi" was released on May 25th, and many fans lined up to purchase the books. The series has sold over 8 million copies in Japan and spawned a hit anime series as well as an animated film.

"Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyougaku" (translation: The Dismay of Suzumiya Haruhi) is the first new release in 4 years and is being sold in a 2-volume set (first and second parts), the volumes will be sold separately starting on June 15th.

On May 25th, fans began lining up outside Akihabara's Animate shop at the store's regular closing hour of 9pm. By the time the book went on sale at midnight, over 100 people had lined up outside. One 22-year old female customer commented, "Haruhi's charm is the character and the world view. I waited a long time. I want to read it quickly."
