Pop singer Kuraki Mai appeared at the "Figure Skate Kanawaza Fantasy on Ice 2011" for a special collaborative performance!
The event was held on June 18th and 19th, and included top ice-skating stars from both Japan and abroad (such as famous figure skater Ando Miki). Kuraki Mai sang her charity song "Anata ga Iru Kara", while skater Arakawa Shizuka danced on the ice for a stunning collaboration.
"I made this song while thinking about what I could do for those affected by the earthquake, and hope that I can heal everyone's hearts with music," she said during the event. "I'm truly honored to collaborate with Arakawa-san. I feel just like I'm singing in some kind of dream."
The ice skater also appeared to be happy to collaborate with Kuraki, and is even said to have listened to her music often when she was in college. "Back then, the (song) I listened to the most was 'Secret of my heart'. I'd have that song going through my head for the whole day," she said with a smile about the pop singer. "It's been ten years since then, but even now I can vividly remember fond memories when I hear her songs. Once I was told that I would be performing with Kuraki-san, I listened to 'Anata ga Iru Kara' all the time. I feel like it's a song that surrounds you in kindness with its strong message that goes straight to people's hearts."
Two more performances will be held on July 2nd and July 3rd. All proceeds from "Fantasy on Ice" will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to help out the relief efforts in the Tohoku region.
