On July 12th, it was announced that popular actor Sato Takeru (22) will be starring in a war commemorative drama, Saigo no Kizuna: Okinawa Hikisakareta Kyodai (tentative title) by Fuji TV.
This will be Satos first time taking part in a war drama. This drama will be set after the Pacific War in Okinawa and is a documentary about siblings who tragically fight between each other as enemies as a part of both the Japanese and American armies. Sato will play a young man who enlisted as a part of Tekketsu Kinnoutai, a war unit of young soldiers.
Until now, I never knew Tekketsu Kinnoutai actually existed, Sato stated and went to a historical museum in Itoman City in Okinawa to learn about that particular unit. After seeing photos of young men and children holding guns, he felt absolutely shocked about this fact. As he has been in Okinawa for half a month for filming, Sato expressed his goals for this movie with, I want show the facts to the young people of Japan about the tragedy which happened in Okinawa not too long ago.
This year, Japan has been faced the hardship of the Tohoku Earthquake, therefore, the producer, Narita Kazuki has said, With this work, we want people to recollect how Japanese people have overcome the hardship of unprecedenteddefeat withthe strong bonds between family members, and made a miraculous revival, and put his wishes into this drama.
