Today it was announced that former Morning Musume member and current announcer for TV Tokyo, Konno Asami, is going to tackle another new duty for the network.

As of October 1st, Konno is going to become a new sportscaster for the daily sports news show "neo sports".

During her time as a member of Morning Musume, Konno already showed her interest for sports by being the goal keeper for Hello! Project's own futsal team, the Gatas Brilhantes HP. During her student days she also actively exercised karate as well track and field athletics.

It's said that ever since she became an announcer in April, it has been her earnest wish to also become a sportscaster someday. Now she is finally going to fulfill her wish.

She commented, "I'm really happy, because I totally love sports! Using this happiness as my driving force, I'd like to study everything about introducing sports news."

Konno is not only going to update us with the latest sports news as a host of the show, there are also plans for her to conduct interviews and cover events right on the scene.

Due to a renewal of "neo sports" in October, there are going to be several new faces on the show. Further, the show's Saturday time slot is going to move from 11:20 pm to 11:30 pm.

Konno is going to be on the show every Wednesday and Saturday.
