On the October 3rd release of the 43rd issue of “Weekly Shonen Jump”, it was announced that basketball manga “Kuroko no Basket” will be adapted into an anime series under the animation company Production I.G. The broadcast dates will be announced at a later date.
“Kuroko no Basket” is a series that begun its serialization in this same magazine back in February 2009 and has sold total of approximately 5 million copies as of now. This manga follows a story of high school student Kagami Taiga that just came back from the United States and meets a low-profile boy named Kuroko Tetsuya and together, they challenge members of “Generation of Miracles” to bring their high school basketball team as Japan’s number one.
Fujimaki Tadatoshi, the author of this series, stated regarding the anime adaptation, “I am thoroughly excited of this. 'I am so restless so I hope they hurry up and begin!' kind of thing,” and displayed his excitement of this adaptation.
