Tsuru's "Yoru wo Koete" has become the theme song for the upcoming movie "Afro Tanaka", which is scheduled to be released in February 2012.

"Afro Tanaka" is a live-actionadaptationof Noritsuke Masaharu's ongoing manga of the same name, which is currently being serialized on Weekly Big Comic Spirits. As reportedearlier, the movie will star Matsuda Shota, and the heroine will be played by Sasaki Nozomi. Moreover, Tsutsumishita Atsushi (of comedian duo Impulse), Tanaka Kei, Endo Kaname, and Komakine Ryusuke will also make appearance as the fellows. Matsui Daigo will be directing a full-length movie debut with this movie.

Tsuru was selected to be the OST singers since the members are big fans of original "Afro Tanaka" series; in fact, their trademark is found in wearing the Afro hairstyle. Vocalist/guitarist Akino Atsushi commented, "I could say the best thing in having afro hair was that we received theopportunityto sing for 'Afro Tanaka.' Since that's the manga I've been reading, I feel happy our song was chosen for its movie adaptation. There are many things I can empathize with the protagonist, Tanaka-kun, and I always thought we were similar. So, I could decide the direction of the song quickly without being trouble. I understand very well that Tanaka-kun's humbleness, because he is the same as me."

The theme song "Yoru wo Koete" will be released as a single inFebruary2012, and Tsuru announced that they will be "graduating" from their afro hair after the release of the song. They will also release a mini-album "Heart no Jishaku" in a limited quantity on December 7th.
