As reported previously, AKB48 member, Watanabe Mayu will star in a new drama series on TV Tokyo which will start on January 13th, and recently, more details on the upcoming drama have been revealed. The title of the drama will be "Saba-dol", and Watanabe will play a 38-year-old teacher who deflates her age, and works as a 17-year-old idol.
Watanabe's role will be an unattractive 38-year-old woman, "Usa Shijimi", who teaches classical literature at a industrial high school, and is treated unkindly by the students. However she has different face as a popular 17-year-old idol "Watanabe Mayu" who the students yearn for.
To play the role, Watanabe commented, "It is really difficult how I should act as 38-year-old 'Shijimi', but I want to try my best. Since the drama is a heart-warming comedy, I hope it could send out energy to the viewers."
Watanabe will also sing the theme song "Synchro Tokimeki" which will be her solo debut single (set to be released on February 29th).
Other cast members are Ando Tamae, Sakata Tadashi, Kaminaga Keisuke, and Takahashi Hitomi.
