On March 17th, it was revealed that singer-songwriter Fukuhara Miho will be making her drama debut in the upcoming drama, "Kaeru no Oujo-sama".

Starring alongside actressAmami Yuki, Fukuhara will play the role of 'Haneda Minami', a former yankee and single mother who is a member of the "Mamasan Korus" ("Mothers' Choir").

The singer was added to the cast after Amami watched footage of her performing in a church in Los Angeles. Fukuhara expressed, "Everyday,I encounter new feelings that I've never felt before, butI won't give in until the very end. I want to do my best while learning from my co-stars so that I can grow."

"Kaeru no Oujo-sama" is a musical drama that tells a story about a legendary musical star (Amami) who returnes to Japan after being on Broadway in New York. She uses all her energy and experience to keep the Mamasan Korus called "Chansons" from breaking up.

After hearing that the drama aims to "brighten Japan up with music", Fukuhara made her decision to participate. "I decided to take part in it because I wanted to become a part of that power with my music," she explained.

Fukuhara made her major-label debut back in April of 2008 with "CHANGE". In January of 2009, she released her first album, "RAINBOW", then in June of 2010, she released her second album, "Music is My Life". Fukuhara was also in charge of the theme songs for the films, "Shizumanu Taiyo" and "Akunin", and just last year, she ventured out to Los Angeles for vocal lessons in order to further her music abilities.

Fuji TV producer Watanabe Tsuneya commented, "In order for the singing scenes to have persuasive power, we thought about having a professional singer as a member of the 'Chansons'. I was drawn by Fukuhara Miho-san's overwhelming skills and performance, that I needed her to participate."

He shared that Fukuhara has already performed on set, and continued, "I feel that she is a very capable artist.Through this drama, I want her to further grow, not just in the Japanese music scene, but as an actress."

"Kaeru no Oujo-sama" will air every Thursdays from 10:00 pm starting April 12th.
