Girls unit 9nine member Yoshii Kanae will be making her musical debut in 'Macross the Musiculture'!

This musical celebrates the 30th year of the anime series, 'Macross', and Yoshii will play the role of a girl named Sakura Crawford.

Yoshii commented, "I love to sing, so I've always wanted to try a musical. When I received this offer, I was full of surprise and happiness." �She also expressed, "Honestly, I'm anxious and nervous. This is my first time, so I have no idea what's going on, but I want to be myself and play this role with confidence."

Yoshii is the lead vocalist in the 5-member girls unit 9nine. The group will perform their first outdoor live on August 19th at Hibiya Outdoors Music Hall.

'Macross' is a science fiction robot anime that tells the story of a war between aliens and humankind. The first series, 'Choujikuu Yousai Macross' aired back in 1982, and its popularity has been ongoing with its movie adaptations and sequels.

'Macross the Musiculture' will be an original story set in the year 2062 and it revolves around Macross 29, the 29th Macross Class Spacecraft that departed Earth. It will feature music and love triangles that are essential to the series.

The musical will run from October 3rd to the 8th at Tokyo Dome City Hall.
