Sakurai Sho and Kitagawa Keiko talk about the luxury liner that they were filming on

allkpop

Superstar Virgo, the luxury liner where filming for the movie "Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de" took place was recently opened to the press. It marks the first time that a Japanese film was shot on Asias biggest cruise ship.

Arashis Sakurai Sho (30) has a starring role in the movie and was extremely excited to be on this masterpiece of a ship. Heroine of the movie, Kitagawa Keiko (25) also mentioned with pride that everything about the film is a scale-up compared to her previous works.

The movie is about a butler with a wicked tongue (played by Sakurai) and his wealthy mistress (played by Kitagawa) tackling a murder case that occurred while they are on the luxury liner. "Nazotoki wo Dinner no Ato de" was aired as a drama series on Fuji TV last October with a highest viewership rating of 18.1%. It returned to TV screens in March this year as a special. The movie version will be released next year.

It is indeed fitting to call the luxury liner a masterpiece. Superstar Virgo is about 1.5 times as wide as the Tokyo Dome and comparable in height to a 14-storey building. The liner has every possible facility catering to its guests needs, including nine restaurants, swimming pool, casino, theater and gym.

Staff and cast boarded the ship together with holiday-goers. The cruise liner brought its guests to various resort spots and traveled an immense distance of 2615 km. The filming was done while the ship dropped anchor, and Sakurai and Kitagawa had the chance to explore its interior. When asked to compare the size of Superstar Virgo to the cruiser where Arashi held their debut press conference off the coast of Waikiki, Hawaii, Sakurai was at a loss for words, Its on a completely different scale.

Despite being busy with his job as the main newscaster in a program covering the London Olympics, Sakurai made two back-and-forth trips between Japan and Superstar Virgo. Because the ship was making its regular route at sea, Sakurai had to take three connecting flights from Haneda airport in Japan, one car ride, and two boat transfers before finally being able to board Superstar Virgo. Sakurai made use of the transfer time to prepare for the London Olympics, and even though he wasnt sleeping much, he still woke up early to walk around the liner. He seemed to have had fun as he remarked, The last time I took 500 photos in two days, this time I took 300 photos in three days!

At the same time, Kitagawa was trying out different restaurants and going for massages on the liner. When asked if she had had an extravagant dinner, just like she did in the original drama series, she responded, I had fried rice, about 9 times.

In the movie, Kitagawa and Sakurai search for a murderer in the midst of 3000 staff and guests. Having being able to spend time on the luxury liner, Sakurai commented, I'm sure it will be quite enjoyable movie."
