Tezuka Osamu's manga 'Black Jack' to get live-action drama adaptation in the U.S.

It's been revealed that Tezuka Osamu's manga, 'Black Jack', will be getting a live-action drama adaptation in the United States.

According to Deadline, independent studioEntertainment One (eOne), producer of ABC's 'Rookie Blue' and distributor of AMC's 'The Walking Dead',has acquired the rights to turn 'Black Jack' into a TV drama series. It will be produced by Doug Davison and Ichise Taka, who previously teamed up for the 'The Ring' and 'The Grudge' series.

'Black Jack' has gained popularity overseas through translated mangas, anime, and OVA (original video animation).This will be it's first time getting a live-action adaptation overseas. eOne plans to start broadcasting the drama in 2013. The cast hasn't been revealed at this time.

In Japan, Shishido Joe, Kayama Yuzo, Ryu Daisuke, Motoki Masahiro, and Okada Masaki has played the role of Black Jack.
