On September 14, it was announced that the documentary film VANISHING POINT (directed by Onaga Yutaka) about '90s rock band BLANKEY JET CITY will open on January 26, 2013.
The band was comprised of members Asai Kenichi (vocalist and leader, 47), Terui Toshiyuki (bassist, 48), and Nakamura Tatsuya (drummer, 47). It disbanded in 2000, and the documentary shows never-before-seen footage of their last tour in May and June of 2000 as well as their last performance at the Yokohama Arena in July 2000.
Since their appearance on the TBS program Miyake Yuuji no Ikasu Band Tengoku (Ikaten) in August of 1990, they gained a large following, and in 2000, the band suddenly announced their disbandment. At the time, director Onaga Yutaka followed the band and filmed; the film is a 13-year revival of the band. The three former members are all currently active as musicians.
