On August 31, actor Kaneshiro Takeshi's (38) niece and popular Taiwanese model U (22) made her Japanese debut in Mobage�s �Daisenran!! Sangokushi Battle (=The Great War!! Battle of the Three Kingdoms)� CM and captured the public�s attention.

The new star, who is a quarter Japanese, left an impression with her large eyes. Last year, U made her Taiwanese debut and quickly became popular. Due to the advice of a fortune teller as well as her own personal interest in Japan, she made her Japanese debut last month and signed with talent agency Miyn, which also represents artists like manga artist�Kurata Mayumi (41).

She appeared at the �Tokyo Runway� fashion show on September 17. U has also been updating her public blog �U no Birei Nikki (U�s Beautiful Journal)� almost every day, and trains hard for her Japanese reading and writing skills. She smiled as she said, �I want to learn how to speak Japanese as quickly as possible, and then start my career as an actress." She also discussed her ambitions, saying, �I want to first work off of my own abilities instead of borrowing my uncle�s name.�
