It's been announced that singer-songwriter MISIA will be performing for "The 63rd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen" all the way in the desert from Namibia of Africa via on?the spot broadcasting. MISIA's appearance on the show will be as a special entry which does not belong to the "red team" or "white team."

MISIA has been a volunteer in Africa since 2005. In 2008 she established a nonprofit organization "Child AFRICA" that supports education and development for children. In 2010 she was appointed the honorary ambassador for the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10).
