Japan Box Office Report July 13/14

TH STAFF
tokyohive
The film industry is in the middle of the most profitable season of the year. 'Monsters University' continues to dominate and forces the new 'Pokmon' film to stand in 2nd place on its opening weekend. It should cross the 2 billion Yen mark soon and eventually reach a cumulative revenue of 6 to 7 billion Yen.

As it was already mentioned, the new 'Pokmon' film 'Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! The Movie: ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens' opened in at 2nd place. In three days it recorded the same amount of revenue 'Monsters University' managed to record in just two. Of course it was still a fantastic opening weekend and should lay the foundation for a nice cumulative revenue of more than 3 billion Yen.

Meanwhile, 'Midsummer Formula' has still done very well on its 3rd weekend with a very steady stream of viewers. If this continues for a little longer, it should have no problem cracking the 4 billion Yen. So far it already surpassed the 2 billion Yen mark.

'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' opened in at 7th place.

Don't forget to check out the trailers of all the new Japanese films below the box office chart!
