On September 17, AKB48 member and enka singer Iwasa Misaki appeared at an event at the Sunshine City Funsui Hiroba in Ikebukuro, Tokyo where she announced the 12 songs that she will cover in her cover album "Request Covers." The 12 songs were chosen by fan votes and the album will be released for sale on November 6.

The voting ran from June 20 to August 10 and there were requests from 20,000 people throughout Japan for 5,000 different songs; the top 12 songs were revealed one at a time in a countdown format at the event.  Matsuda Seiko's "Akai Sweet Pea" took first place.  Iwasa thanked fans with, "There were not only songs that I like, but songs that my father likes that made the top 12.  Of the 12 songs, first place song 'Akai Sweet Pea' is a song that I often sing at karaoke.  My mother is also a big fan of Matsuda Seiko, so I am extremely happy  [that the song was chosen.]"

Iwasa spoke about the top 12 songs with, "The songs are well-loved by many people, so I am nervous; however, I will do my best to sing with my true feelings for my fans and I will grow as a person through this cover album."
