It was announced that famous animation film director Miyazaki Hayao will be retiring, and his newest work 'Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises)' will be his final film.
This announcement was made by Studio Ghibli's president Hoshino Koji during the press conference at the Venice Film Festival which�screened�'Kaze Tachinu'. Hoshino stated there, "Director Miyazaki has decided his retirement, making 'Kaze Tachinu' as his final movie."
No other details on Miyazaki's retirement were revealed, but Miyazaki will hold a press conference on the 6th in Tokyo for further explanation.
Miyazaki made his directing debut back in 1979 with "Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro", and he has been achieving various monumental works since then both inside and outside Japan.
