This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report giving you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
Last week ended with another very successful run of the current NHK morning drama 'Gochisousan' starring Anne. It achieved an average weekly rating of 23.2%. The highest rating was recorded on Friday at 24.6%. So far after nine weeks, it has always achieved a weekly average of 21% and better.
On Saturday premiered the new NHK mini drama 'Taiyou no Wana' starring Nishijima Takahiro. The first episode had a difficult start and only recorded a rating of 4.6% (-6.3). One of the reasons why it passed by unnoticed was the big special drama 'Olympic no Minoshirokin' on TV Asahi, which was produced to celebrate the networks 55th anniversary. The special was split into two episodes and featured many big stars such as Takenouchi Yutaka, Matsuyama Kenichi and Kuroki Meisa as the main protagonists. Its first episode achieved a rating of 14.1% (-0.4).
The 2nd episode of 'Olympic no Minoshirokin' aired on Sunday and recorded a great rating of 13.9% (+4.7). Meanwhile, Fuji TV also had an anniversary to celebrate and did so last week with a special 'Sazae-san' week. The highlight of this week was the new live-action drama special of 'Sazae-san' starring Mizuki Alisa on Sunday, which achieved a high rating of 14.4% (+8.4).
