On December 3, NHK officially announced that actress Inoue Mao will be starring in their Taiga drama for 2015 entitled "Hana Moyu".
Inoue previously starred in NHK's morning drama "Ohisama" aired back in 2011, and she also hosted the Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2011.
"Hana Moyu" will feature a brave woman who lived during the days of the end of the Edo period.
Inoue will play the woman named "Fumi", a younger sister of Yoshida Shoin, the thinker in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate.
Regarding her role, Inoue said, "Since I got the offer a month ago, I am still in the middle of studying history. I feel a little uneasy as she is not what is called a key figure, but I hope the viewers could feel familiar with history from Fumi's point of view who was around those who changed history. I would like to play a woman with a stalwart heart."
