On January 22, it was revealed that AKB48's Kato Rena (16) would be suspending her performances for a short while due to her sprained right knee. 

The group's blog stated, "Regarding Team B's Kato Rena, her right leg was injured during a shoot for a TV program the other day. After getting examined at the hospital, results showed that her right knee was sprained." 

"Because it will place an excessive burden on the lower half of her body, the doctor ordered her to rest for about 4 weeks. As such, she will be absent from 'Request Hour Set List Best 200 2014' on January 23, and she will also be suspending her performances at the AKB48 theater for a short while." 

Kato commented, "To all fans who were looking forward to the concert and performances, I'm sorry to worry you. It is also my responsibility. I will take a break in order to get better as soon as possible. I'm really sorry to worry you."
