This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report giving you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.

The report continues with a partially lite edition due to the lack of reliable sources for prime time ratings so far, but starting from the ratings for January 13th it's already back to the normal layout with the usual details.

Many new dramas have already premiered last week and early this week. The ratings for NHK's new taiga drama 'Gunshi Kanbei' starring Okada Junichi were much anticipated, but there were no surprises in the end. Its 1st episode merely recorded 18.9% and the 2nd episode already fell by 2.0% down to 16.9%, so we most likely won't see a revival of the famed taiga genre. Will NHK ever reorganize this genre/time slot?

The highest recorded premiere of the young winter season was achieved by the Sunday suspense drama 'S -Saigo no Keikan-' (TBS) starring Mukai Osamu and Ayano Go. It premiered at a good level of 18.9%.
