This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report giving you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
Friday drama 'Maruho no Onna' on TV Tokyo has already found its regular audience and seems to have stable ratings just below 9%. The same can also be said about 'Alice no Toge' on TBS, which recorded the same rating of 11.9% as last week. TV Asahi's 'Shinigami-kun' 2nd episode achieved a rating of 10.1% (-1.1).
It's the start of the Golden Week in Japan, therefore shows that offer family entertainment record higher ratings than usual, at least until everyone goes off to their holiday destinations. Fuji TV had a sure winner among their line-up with the movie 'Thermae Romae' which scored a high rating of 18.6%. This helped the following drama 'First Class' to gain a couple more viewers and achieve a good rating of 9.1% (+2.6). At the same time, NTV experienced very bad results for their drama 'Yowakute mo Katemasu' (9.4%; -2.3) and the following variety show 'Arashi ni Shiyagare' (6.9%).
The Sunday prime time around 9pm had 3 networks achieving ratings above 14%, yet it was somewhat disappointing for two of those. NTV came out on top with 'Gyoretsu no Dekiru Horitsu Sodanjo' and a rating of 14.9%, but you could almost say that everything below 15% is unusual for this variety show. TV Asahi aired a movie from the 'Aibou' series, so it's no surprise they recorded 14.7%.
Meanwhile, TBS somewhat failed with the premiere of their new drama 'Roosevelt Game' (starring Karasawa Toshiaki) after all the hype and promotions. It's no secret that TBS was aiming for another 'Hanzawa Naoki' this season, so they probably expected something around 20%, but the the drama "only" achieved 14.1%.
