This is Tokyohive's regular Drama Prime Time Report giving you a detailed look at the prime time ratings with a focus on the weekly dramas.
Some mediocre drama premieres happened during last week. Fuji TV's Tuesday drama 'Black President' (starring Sawamura Ikki) only recorded 8.3%, which is pretty low considering that the competition will be tougher once all networks go back to their regular schedules. Meanwhile, NHK's 'Silent Poor' (starring Fukada Kyoko) achieved a 6.3% premiere.
The Wednesday drama of Fuji TV, 'SMOKING GUN' (starring Katori Shingo) pulled off a double-digit rating of 10.3% but will most likely drop below the 10% mark from next week on.
Three dramas premiered on Thursday and TBS' 'MOZU Season 1' (starring Nishijima Hidetoshi) came out on top with a rating of 13.3%. This time slot usually only causes headaches for TBS, so they must be very delighted to finally see some double-digit ratings here again. If things go well, this drama should even end with an average rating above 10%. TV Asahi's 'BORDER' (starring Oguri Shun) failed to surpass the 10% mark and recorded 9.7%. NHK's 'Ginnikan' (starring Hayashi Kento) achieved 7.6%.
On Friday, the new drama of TV Tokyo, 'Maruho no Onna' (starring Natori Yuko), recorded a rating of 8.4%, which is passable for this network. However, last season they landed a surprise hit with 'Sanbiki no Ossan', so it's a bit unfortunate. TBS witnessed a favorable start of their own Friday drama 'Alice no Toge' (starring Ueno Juri). It recorded a rating of 14.2%, which is the highest drama premiere so far this season.
NTV's Saturday drama 'Yowakute mo Katemasu' (starring Ninomiya Kazunari) managed to pull off a 13.4% rating, which pretty much the same as last season's drama. NTV usually expects higher ratings in this time slot during the spring season, but this doesn't mean that it's a disappointing result.
